What I Believe

1. Bible

It is the complete and only revelation of God to man.
It is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit.
It is inerrant in its original writings.
It consists of 66 books.
It is the supreme and final authority in "all things that pertain unto life and godliness ... "(2 Peter 1:3)

2. God

He is eternal, supreme, sovereign, transcendent.
He is infinite in all his attributes.
He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe.
He exists eternally in 3 persons - Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
The triune Godhead is one in nature, attributes, power, glory.

3. Lord Jesus Christ

He is the second person of the trinity.
He is true God and true man.
He existed eternally prior to his incarnation.
He was born of a virgin.
He lived a sinless life.
He died a substitutionary and sacrificial death on the cross.
He arose bodily from the grave.
He ascended into heaven.
He is seated on the right hand of God, the Father.
He is coming back to earth as righteous King and Judge.

4. Holy Spirit

He is the third Person of the trinity.
He is coequal with the Father and the Son.
He eternally indwells and "seals" every believer in Jesus Christ
from the moment of salvation (John 14:6, Ephesians 4:30).
He "guides" the believer into the "truth" of Scripture (John 16:13).
He empowers the believer to live a life that pleases God.
He unifies the body of Christ on earth (1 Corinthians 12:13).
He convicts sinners of "sin ... righteousness ... judgement" (John 16:8).

5. Mankind

Man consists of body, soul, and spirit (God consciousness).
Man was created sinless, in the image of God.
Man chose to sin which destroyed his relationship with God.
Man's offspring inherited his sinful nature.
Every human being is a sinner by birth and by choice.
There is nothing man can do to restore his lost relationship with God.
Man needs a Savior to forgive his sins and reconcile him to God.

6. Salvation

Jesus Christ died for every human being, paying his debt of sin in full.
Salvation is "by grace ... through faith ... the gift of God, not of works."
Salvation is a priceless gift that cannot be earned by good works.
Salvation is available exclusively through Jesus Christ.
Salvation is a choice. Christ offers salvation freely to all who repent
and by faith, choose Him as their personal Savior and Lord.
At the moment of salvation, the sinner is instantly forgiven his every sin.
He is reconciled to God who loves him and has longed for his restoration.
Christ's perfection is instantly credited to every repentant sinner.

7. Church

Every believer in Christ becomes a member of the invisible church.
The visible (local) church is an assembly of believers who meet for worship,
teaching, the sharing of spiritual gifts, fellowship, etc.

8. Future Things

Following this present age, believers are "caught up together ... in the
clouds to meet the Lord in the air ... " (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
This event is followed by 7 years of tribulation directed against Israel.
Christ will return at the end of this period "in power and great glory."
He will establish his kingdom and reign on earth for 1000 years.
Thereafter, he will "create a new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness" (II Peter 3:13)
The New Jerusalem descends into the perfect earth and is the eternal home of God and the redeemed.

9. Heaven and Hell

Heaven is the home of all who have been saved through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Hell and the Lake of Fire is the eternal prison of all who die in their sins, having neglected or rejected "so great salvation" (Hebrews 2:3)
